This Thurs., Fri., and Sat.: Taste of the Arts Music @ Cellar Door!!!

Visalia's "Taste of the Arts" Night #1

Thursday, September 9
POOR MAN'S POISON
RAPIDS

$5, 21+, 9:30pm
The Cellar Door
101 W. Main St., Visalia

Night one of Taste of the Arts focuses around Central Valley home-grown talent. Headlining the show is Hanford's Poor Man's Poison. The band that steadily increased their draw at Cellar Door by performing energetic sets that don't rely on sheer volume to build intensity. The quartet centers around upright bass, mandolin, and guitars, to create a unique take on bluegrass, alt country, and acoustic-based rock. The boys have been quite busy performing concerts up and down California.

On a very different note, Visalia's RAPIDS will kick off the evening. RAPIDS abandons traditional music formulas to create a unique batch of songs that centers around sparse to lush arrangements of dreamy mid-tempo reverb-drenched rock. Their entire new album is downloadable for free at: rapids.bandcamp.com

Visalia's "Taste of the Arts" Night #2

Friday, September 10
THE WHISKEY & THE DEVIL CHAPLAIN (CD Release show!)
NOT AN AIRPLANE
The Gospel Whiskey Runners

$5, 21+, 9:30pm
The Cellar Door
101 W. Main St., Visalia

One of Visalia's most active touring bands is The Whiskey and the Devil Chaplain. Lately the band has been replacing their shuffle with straight ahead rock beats to thicken up their sound. This concert will be a record release party for their self-titled new album; meaning that this show will be the first time the album will be available to the public.

Modesto's Not An Airplane makes their Cellar Door debut by filling the middle slot with their indie-country sound.

Opening the evening is a mysterious new Visalia band called The Gospel Whiskey Runners. Thus far only a single song from the band has been made public. Listen to this untitled harmony-rich track at: www.gospelwhiskeyrunners.com/

Visalia's "Taste of the Arts" Night #3

Saturday, September 11
FRENCH MIAMI
RED BLUE YELLOW

$5, 21+, 9:30pm
The Cellar Door
101 W. Main St., Visalia

San Francisco art -rock trio, French Miami, have wowed San Francisco with their jagged guitar riffs and throbbing synths. The gritty style is irresistibly catchy and their boisterous live performances have earned them a reputation as a local favorite.

Rolling Stone Magazine stated the following about French Miami: "San Fran psychopaths craft skull-collapsing post-punk, wiry (and Wire-y) guitars twitching over steady chugging rhythms."

Returning to the Cellar Door, also from San Francisco, is Red Blue Yellow. A band that has repeatedly wowed Cellar Door audiences with their intense light shows movie projections that sync up perfectly with their dramatic pop-rock music.

much love,
Aaron
